synopsis

“Revolution” is a post-apocalyptic science fiction show taking place in 2027, 15 years after the start of a worldwide, permanent electrical-power blackout in 2012. Because government and public order collapsed, several areas are ruled by the Monroe Republic militia. We later learn that the Monroe Republic isn’t the primary enemy, being replaced by the so-called Patriots, an occupying force posing as the United States Government. We also learn why the power went out.
Created by Eric Kripke and produced by J. J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions for the NBC network, it was renewed for a second season but then canceled. However, a four-part comic book series appeared in 2015, and wrapped up the story. The show ended with a cliffhanger which left the fans of the show deeply upset. The hashtag #RelocateRevolution was born, and a petition was created which after one year had nearly 90,000 signatures to save the show. For one year, fans tweeted, discussed and rewatched the show and kept it alive in any way they could. Nearly one year after the cancellation, the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, announced that Revolution would be continued as a 4 digital comic series which was written by the same writers of the TV series. Read the announcement as well as Eric Kripke’s thank you note here and scroll down or click here to read the comic.
On the day of the announcement, many of the cast and writers took to Twitter to thank the fans for making this happen. Here is Billy Burke’s thank you Tweet to the fans and following announcement when the first comic was published:

role

Billy Burke plays Miles Matheson, a former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant, pursued by the Monroe Republic Militia. He is later revealed to be one of the founding fathers of the Monroe Republic, having established it with Sebastian Monroe after the collapse of the United States. He is also the former commanding general of its militia, and is responsible for making them as brutally efficient as they are now. However, he later becomes disillusioned with the Republic and unsuccessfully attempts to assassinate Monroe. He deserts, and becomes dependent on alcohol over guilt of the Republic’s atrocities against civilians. The militia now considers him a traitor, and seeks to capture him as well as the rest of the Matheson family. Miles is shown expressing regret for his role with the militia, although not without conflicted feelings about his former best friend.

quotes

I would absolutely say that this is [one of the highlights of my career]. I’ve been having a great time making this show. When I think back to my childhood and looking ahead to what I wanted to do, there was never really any question with what I wanted to do. Then I look at this gig. I can’t see it getting any better than this in terms of stuff to do and fun to be had. This is a pretty rich role and good thing to be doing as your job every day.
