INTERVIEW

synopsis

Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two continues as the Holiday Killer is still at large and, with Bruce Wayne under the spell of the venomous Poison Ivy, Batman is nowhere to be found. Liberated by an unlikely ally, Bruce quickly uncovers the real culprit: Poison Ivy’s employer Carmine Falcone. The Roman, his ranks decimated by Holiday and his business spinning out of control, has been forced to bring on less desirable partners – Gotham City’s rogues’ gallery. In the meantime, Harvey Dent is confronting battles on two fronts: attempting to end the mob war while also dealing with a strained marriage. And, after an attack that leaves Harvey hideously disfigured, the District Attorney unleashes the duality of his psyche that he’s strived his entire life to suppress. Now, as Two-Face, Dent decides to take the law into his own hands and deliver judgment to those who’ve wronged him, his family and all of Gotham. Ultimately, the Dark Knight must put together the tragic pieces that converged to create Two-Face, the Holiday Killer, Batman and Gotham City itself.

The project is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros.

Jensen Ackles leads the cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Other stars include Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man, Troy Baker as Joker, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy, and Alastair Duncan as Alfred.

reviews

I absolutely love Billy Burke as Captain Gordon–he’s such a grounding force. I don’t know whose genius idea it was to cast him…so I’ll just say it was mine. (It was not.) (But I wish it had been cuz I’d look really smart.)
– Tim Sheridan, screenwriter, Twitter

Billy Burke playing Gordon was another no-brainer, he just had that Gordon voice.

Billy Burke as James Gordon is a really interesting casting choice.

You look at Billy Burke and you go, “That’s the last person I would think to play Gordon.” And he knocks it out of the park.
– Troy Baker, comingsoon.net

Billy Burke once again shines as Gordon, balancing the gruff detective act with the personable friend, ally and family man together in one.

According to Screen Rant, the voice actors in “Batman: The Long Halloween” are some of the best in the biz, by far, and Billy Burke’s their no. 3:

Actor Billy Burke got his Hollywood start in parody films like Mafia! and thrillers like Along Came A Spider. Since then, he’s appeared in the Twilight franchise, Drive Angry, and the fireman’s thriller Ladder 49. However, in The Long Halloween, Burke portrays a slightly gentler, less jaded version of James Gordon, which brought a nice change of pace. He resonates well with the rest of the cast, particularly his alliance with Batman and Harvey Dent. Burke voices a Commissioner that hasn’t yet become jaded in the face of insurmountable crime. He’s pragmatic, but he’s optimistic in spite of everything. Burke brings out that energy, making for one of the liveliest Gordons yet.
